The 2016 Annandale CROP Hunger Walk will be held on Saturday, October 15, 2016. Online registration is available. The walk will be held on trails at Lake Accotink Park. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m. October 15 near the Lake Accotink Marina. The walk raises funds for Church World Service, which works with partner agencies around the world to fund programs that help fight hunger and poverty and respond to disasters and provide refugee assistance. CWS also responds to disasters in the U.S. and supports local efforts to fight hunger. “CROP” stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty.
The 2015 Annandale CROP Hunger Walk raised a total of $12,955 in donations by cash, check, and online. Church World Service returned part of this to ACCA. Walkers, volunteers and donors from 12 ACCA churches supported the walk.
ACCA will hold a CROP Walk poster event to promote the Annandale CROP Hunger Walk and raise awareness about hunger. Youth preschool through grade 12 are invited to submit posters. Posters should be delivered to the ACCA Child Development Center, 7200 Columbia Pike, Annandale by October 6. Posters should be 14″ x 22″ or smaller. The posters should be about hunger or fighting poverty. They should also include the CROP Walk date, time and location– October 15, 8 am, Lake Accotink Park. Please mark the artist’s name, grade and church on the back.
