On Saturday, April 25, 2026, volunteers across Northern Virginia came together to make critical home repairs for neighbors in need as part of National Rebuilding Day.
Led by Rebuilding Together Arlington/Fairfax/Falls Church in partnership with Annandale Christian Community for Action (ACCA) and other local nonprofits, teams worked on 16 homes and nonprofit residential facilities—providing repairs at no cost to homeowners.
Projects focused on improving safety, accessibility, and overall living conditions. Volunteers installed grab bars and railings, completed minor electrical and plumbing fixes, repaired decks and fences, built ramps and stairs, painted, and cleaned up yards.
Two homes —one in Springfield and one in Annandale—received support from ACCA volunteers from local faith communities.
At one house in Springfield, volunteers from St. Barnabas’ Episcopal, Annandale United Methodist churches, and individuals, with support from Lincolnia United Methodist Church, made repairs. The team repaired fences and gates, braced fence posts installed fence panels, painted front steps, railing, and patio, installed a grab bar and splash guards so the residents don’t slip, repaired a ceiling crack, replaced a light fixture with LED, cleaned the ceiling fan and walls in the basement, and did general yard cleanup.
At a second house in Annandale, volunteers from Ravensworth Baptist, John Calvin Presbyterian, and Providence Presbyterian churches have planned repairs. The teams repaired walls and painted, installed return air grills, replaced light bulbs with more efficient lights, rehung a door, replaced an exhaust fan, installed a second stair railing, and installed new washer hoses. Outside, the team will repair patio fence gates, remove ivy, and install handrails on the front steps. The team was supported by members of Queen of Apostles Roman Catholic Church and individuals.
This annual effort is part of a broader mission to ensure safe and healthy housing for all. Rebuilding Together, a national nonprofit founded in 1988, mobilizes volunteers year-round to preserve affordable housing and strengthen communities.
National Rebuilding Day highlights the power of community service—bringing people together to make homes safer and lives better.
