Without a doubt, a frequently asked question that arrives with spring is “How do I donate to ACCA?” Everyone has a story—I inherited an extra dinette set; I shopped at Costco and have surplus food; I have unopened boxes of feminine hygiene products that I no longer need–but the bottom line is the same. They have things to “re-home.”
ACCA takes and wisely uses monetary donations. We are also appreciative of new and good-quality used items and have made the giving process easy.

The webpage for the Furniture Program includes a list of what is and is not acceptable. For instance, a wooden dining set is accepted, but most kitchen appliances and tableware are not. Microwaves are welcome. Small sofas, loveseats, and lightweight tables are more likely to fit well into the clients’ apartments. We also have to keep our volunteers in mind since they often have to carry these items up a few flights of stairs! Please check the map of ACCA’s pickup area or arrange to drop off. Please use the form to initiate your donation.
Here is a list of items that ACCA can use to help furnish the homes of nearby families in need. In the Spring of 2025, we especially need twin-, double-, full-, and queen-size mattresses that are clean with no spots or stains and box springs.
- Dressers
- Beds, mattresses, box springs (no king size)

- Living Room Chairs (NO RECLINERS)
- Coffee and End Tables (No glass tops)
- Sofas/Love Seats – “72” inches/6 feet or shorter (No sleep sofas or sectional or recliner types)
- Televisions – working digital TVs only, NO analog television sets.
- Bed Sheets, Blankets, and Pillows
- Microwave Ovens that Work

Following suit, the Food Pantry has a list of needed non-perishables (food and toiletries). Some local churches have collection boxes. There are also two official drop-off sites: ACCA’s food pantry at 7200 Columbia Pike (Annandale), Tuesday-Friday from 1:30 to 4 o’clock as long as there is a volunteer on duty, and Mason District Government Center (6507 Columbia Pike) has a box inside the lobby from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the week.
You don’t have to wait for the spring. ACCA is grateful to receive furniture and food any time.
