We honored our ACCA Volunteers at a picnic on Saturday, May 2 at Mason District Park. Almost 75 volunteers and their guests attended, enjoying catering from Moe’s Southwest Grill. Thank you to all of our many volunteers for their dedicated service to the community. The following are photos and some awards given to our loyal volunteers.
Above and Beyond Awards
FEAP Program – Lorni Dillon
Lorni has been a long-time money captain for ACCA FEAP. She volunteers to be the acting chairperson when the chair is out of town. She often volunteers to take extra volunteer weeks when there are not enough people signed up. She acts as the designated person for various grants we receive to prevent confusion with requests we receive from the county. She’s excellent at assessing requests and identifying problems that require more information from County social workers.
Food and Nutrition Program – Dennis Cronley

Dennis will do just about anything asked of him. He picks up weekly donations from Whole Foods. He delivers after work and if needed, is always willing to make two deliveries. Even If it’s last-minute or on a Saturday, we can count on Dennis. He speaks Spanish fluently, which is very helpful. Dennis has been a Driver Who Can Pack since at least 2010. He has packed food for drivers every two weeks since early in the pandemic.
Furniture Program – Jim Dillon

Jim is the furniture volunteer who is part of the driving team for the large truck alias The Beast. He is the driver when a truck must be taken to the garage. Jim handles the little things about both trucks. He repairs furniture needing a roller or some slight issue, like a missing handle on a chest of drawers. He always responds to the call when a special task needs to be taken care of, like taking a load of unusable furniture to the recycling center. If it is needed, Jim can do it.
Volunteer of the Year – Bill Pegram
Little did Bill know that when he said, “Sure… I’ll advise a little,” he was beginning what would become a nearly 20‑year commitment to lending his time, talent, and treasure to ACCA and the community it serves.
Over those years, Bill didn’t just “advise”, instead, he built it all. Five applications from the ground up: an initial IT Tool prototype, the FEAP test system, the FEAP production system, the Food test system, and finally the Food production system—each with its own database. He led the work to align ACCA with the county’s community member database, automating referral delivery and streamlining communication in ways that fundamentally changed how we operate.
Bill took ACCA from milk crates and flash cards into the computer age—and then made sure we stayed there. Through continuous upgrades, fixes, and improvements, he ensured our IT infrastructure remained stable, consistent, and available. From late nights coding to countless extra hours—especially during the pandemic—Bill’s dedication made it possible for all of us to do what we do best: care for our neighbors.
Quite simply, the work we do today stands on the foundation Bill built. Even our new CARES applications are based on Bill’s design of the IT Tool.
Seasoned Volunteers
We also honored some of our long-serving volunteers, including the following, who have more than 40 years of service (each!) with ACCA.
Arturo Lopez, Judy Wulff, Ralp Popp, Jean Rackowski, Mary Lee Dispirito, Gail Coleman, and Stan Garnett
